TSC Directs All Teachers and Staff to File 2025 KRA Tax Returns

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially notified all teachers and secretariat staff to commence the filing of their individual income tax returns for the year 2025.

In Circular No: 01/2026, issued on February 18, 2026, Acting Commission Secretary/CEO Ms. E. J. Mitei reminded all employees that in compliance with the Income Tax Act, returns must be submitted through the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) online iTax platform.

The strict deadline for filing is 30th June 2026.

Here is everything you need to know to ensure you comply with the directive smoothly.

How to Get Your P9 Forms

Before you can file your returns on the iTax portal, you will need your Tax Deduction Card, commonly referred to as the P9 Form.

  • For Active Employees: You can easily download your 2025 P9 Form by logging into the TSC T-pay portal.

  • For Exited Employees: If you have left the service and no longer have access to the T-pay system, TSC advises you to visit the nearest TSC county head office to obtain a physical copy of your P9 form.

Where to File

Once you have downloaded your P9 form, you must file your returns electronically. Log in to the KRA iTax platform at https://itax.kra.go.ke and follow the prompts to submit your individual income tax returns.

Teachers are encouraged to file early to avoid the notorious last-minute system delays that often occur as the June 30th deadline approaches, which can result in hefty KRA penalties.

What to Do If You Experience Challenges

The TSC understands that some employees may face technical or administrative hurdles while attempting to file their returns. To ensure everyone meets the deadline, both TSC and KRA have provided dedicated support channels.
