The Ministry of Education has announced a one-week school choice revision period for Grade 9 learners before final senior school placement.
Parents and Grade 9 learners will soon enjoy a one-week revision window to adjust their school choices ahead of the 2026 senior school placement, the Ministry of Education has announced.
Basic Education PS Julius Bitok said the revision process will take place after the Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) results are released. The exercise mirrors the KUCCPS university placement model, offering students flexibility and choice.
Learners who initially selected undersubscribed schools will have a chance to revise their preferences, while top performers will compete for Cluster One (national) schools that offer all three pathways — STEM, Arts & Sports, and Social Sciences.
The Ministry also plans to integrate private schools into the placement system, increasing capacity and offering more options.
“This ensures that every learner, regardless of background, gets a fair opportunity to pursue their dreams,” Prof Bitok stated.
