The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially released guidelines for the recruitment of teacher interns under the 2025/2026 financial year. According to Circular No.15/2025 dated August 20, 2025, Sub-County Directors will oversee the selection of qualified applicants to fill advertised internship slots across junior secondary schools.
The Commission emphasized transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in the process, directing that interview venues be accessible to persons with disabilities. To apply, teachers must submit their applications through the TSC portal at www.teachersonline.go.ke.
Applicants must be registered teachers under Section 23(1) of the TSC Act, 2012. Those with discrepancies in names on certificates must present affidavits, while candidates who re-sat national exams must provide certified copies of all certificates. The Commission has also reserved at least 5% of all slots for teachers living with disabilities, in line with constitutional requirements.
Interviews will be conducted at the sub-county level, and candidates will be ranked using a merit-based scorecard. Priority will be given to science and mathematics teachers, followed by technical, language, and humanities teachers. Preference will also go to applicants hailing from the sub-county where vacancies are declared.
This recruitment aims to bridge staffing gaps in junior schools, especially in specialized areas such as sciences, languages, and technical subjects.
