TSC Announces 24,000 Junior School Internship Vacancies for August 2025

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced 24,000 internship opportunities for qualified teachers in junior schools across the country. The initiative aims to strengthen the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) while providing practical teaching experience to unemployed, registered educators.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be Kenyan citizens.
  • Hold at least a diploma in education with a minimum mean grade of C+ (plus) and C+ in two teaching subjects in KCSE or equivalent.
  • Be registered teachers with TSC.

Applicants are advised to confirm equivalent qualifications via the TSC website.

Application Process and Key Dates
Applications must be submitted online via the TSC portal (www.tsc.go.ke or teachersonline.tsc.go.ke) by midnight, 9th September 2025. The portal will open on Tuesday, 26th August 2025. Manual applications will not be accepted.

During verification, candidates will need to produce:

  • Teacher Registration Certificate/print-out from TSC portal.
  • National ID or Passport.
  • Two passport-size photos.
  • KRA PIN.
  • NCPWD card (if applicable).

Programme Details
The Teacher Internship Programme runs for one year, offering mentorship, coaching, and hands-on teaching exposure. Interns will earn a monthly stipend of Kshs. 20,000, subject to statutory deductions.

Successful candidates will serve in schools within their sub-counties and must hold personal accident insurance during the internship. The programme strictly prohibits more than one internship engagement per candidate.

TSC emphasized that selection will be merit-based, considering the number of vacancies per county.
