The Ministry of Education has confirmed that KPSEA 2025 results will be released in December. Here’s what parents, learners, and schools should know about the grading, transition, and future of CBC assessments in Kenya.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has officially announced that the 2025 Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) results will be released in December 2025. The announcement brings relief and clarity to thousands of learners, teachers, and parents awaiting the outcome of this year’s national assessment.

The KPSEA, which replaced the traditional KCPE for learners under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), assesses Grade 6 pupils before they transition to junior secondary school. This year’s exam was conducted smoothly across the country, marking Kenya’s continued progress in implementing CBC-based evaluation.

How KPSEA 2025 Results Will Be Released

According to CS Ogamba, the results will be available through the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) portal and through SMS shortcodes, similar to past years. Schools will also be able to download performance summaries directly from the KNEC system.

Learners will be assessed in key areas including Mathematics, English, Kiswahili, Integrated Science, and Creative Arts & Social Studies. Unlike the old KCPE system, the KPSEA does not determine school placement but is used for progress evaluation and curriculum improvement.

Transition to Junior Secondary

Upon receiving the KPSEA results, learners will move into Grade 7 at their current institutions. The Ministry has maintained that there will be no ranking of schools or learners, as CBC focuses on competency rather than competition.

Ogamba emphasized that the goal of KPSEA is to ensure holistic development, not just exam performance. “We are focusing on nurturing talent and competencies, not ranking children,” he said during a press briefing at Jogoo House.

Parents’ Role and What to Expect

Parents are advised to use the results to identify their child’s strengths and areas that need support. Education experts also encourage parents to avoid comparing results, as each learner progresses at their own pace.

The 2025 KPSEA results will provide insights into how CBC learners are adapting to the new system, setting the stage for future improvements.
